STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point football team (1-8, 0-6) suffered a 48-0 loss at home to No. 5/6 UW-Whitewater (8-1, 5-1) on Saturday.
Senior
Tysen White (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) led the defense with 12 tackles, the most by any player in the game. Fellow senior
Marshal Bukowski (Green Bay, Wis./North East Lutheran) added nine.
Offensively,
Jacob Leair (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) completed 15 passes for 61 yards.
Brycen Cashin (Plover, Wis./Pacelli) led the team with six catches. He also led the ground game with nine carries.
The Warhawks made back-to-back three-and-out stops and turned both into touchdown drives for a 14-0 lead.
Leair went 4-for-4 on the ensuing drive with a pair of completions to Cashin and
Reed Smith (Powell, Wyo./Powell) each. But the Pointers turned the ball over on downs.
UWSP held UWW to a field goal to begin the second quarter. The Warhawks scored two more touchdowns in the quarter and lead 31-0 at the half.
The Warhawks tacked on 10 points in the third quarter and another touchdown in the fourth to complete the scoring.
UWSP will host UW-La Crosse for Senior Day next Saturday (Nov. 11) in the final home game of the season. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
