UWSP Football Blanked at Home in Penultimate Game

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point football team (1-8, 0-6) suffered a 48-0 loss at home to No. 5/6 UW-Whitewater (8-1, 5-1) on Saturday.

Senior Tysen White (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) led the defense with 12 tackles, the most by any player in the game. Fellow senior Marshal Bukowski (Green Bay, Wis./North East Lutheran) added nine.

Offensively, Jacob Leair (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) completed 15 passes for 61 yards. Brycen Cashin (Plover, Wis./Pacelli) led the team with six catches. He also led the ground game with nine carries.

The Warhawks made back-to-back three-and-out stops and turned both into touchdown drives for a 14-0 lead.

Leair went 4-for-4 on the ensuing drive with a pair of completions to Cashin and Reed Smith (Powell, Wyo./Powell) each. But the Pointers turned the ball over on downs.

UWSP held UWW to a field goal to begin the second quarter. The Warhawks scored two more touchdowns in the quarter and lead 31-0 at the half.

The Warhawks tacked on 10 points in the third quarter and another touchdown in the fourth to complete the scoring.
