Lemke Hauls in First Career Touchdown in Pointers’ Season Finale

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Freshman Tyler Lemke (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick) caught his first career touchdown pass as the UW-Stevens Point football team (1-9, 0-7) closed the season with a 41-7 loss to No. 4/7 UW-La Crosse (9-1, 7-0).

Jacob Leair (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) had 15 completions for 165 yards and a touchdown. Senior Devin Baldridge (Gilberts, Ill./Hampshire) had a team-best five catches. Brycen Cashin (Plover, Wis./Pacelli) led the Pointers with eight rushes.

Seniors led the way defensively for the Pointers. Marshal Bukowski (Green Bay, Wis./North East Lutheran) had a team-high 10 tackles. Tysen white added eight and Cody Trowbridge (Milladore, Wis./Auburndale) had seven. Brodie Overbeck (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) had two of UWSP's four sacks.

After the Eagles took the opening drive in for a touchdown, the Pointers started to move the ball. Leair had three completions and UWSP got to the UWL 39 before the drive stalled.

UWL scored on the next two possessions and the Pointers trailed 21-0 after the first quarter.

As the second quarter began, Leair kept the drive alive with a completion on fourth down to move the chains into UWL territory. He hit Lemke for a 35-yard touchdown to get UWSP on the board.

The Eagles tacked on a pair of field goals and a touchdown to take the halftime lead of 34-7.

UWSP's defense held the Eagles off the board in the third. Overbeck blocked a field goal attempt. Another field goal attempt by UWL was no good.

The Pointers reached the red zone on the opening drive of the fourth, but four-straight incompletions left UWSP without points. UWL tacked on a late touchdown to complete the scoring.
