WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (2-2) fell at Wisconsin Lutheran (3-1) in non-conference play on Tuesday, 86-66.
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) led the Pointers with a season-high 20 points.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Ryan Genrich (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) were also in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) led UWSP with nine rebounds.
Jake Buchanan (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) nailed a three early to give the Pointers a brief 3-2 advantage.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) hit a jumper on the next possession for a 5-4 lead. Genrich drilled a three to get UWSP within 11-10, but WLC began to pull away afterwards.
Krohn and Miron hit consecutive jumpers more than five minutes later as UWSP stayed within five points with just over eight minutes left in the first half. Miron and Buchanan made the Pointers remaining baskets as the deficit grew to 47-28 at the half.
Butler made a pair of early buckets in the second half as UWSP tried to chip away. Miron got the Pointers within 10 with a jumper with 11:26 to go. Around the nine-minute mark, Miron again made field goals on consecutive possessions as UWSP cut the deficit to nine. An and-one by Abdul-Wahid ended a 17-3 run as WLC put the game out of reach late.
The Pointers travel to Augustana on Sunday (Nov. 26) for a 3:00 p.m. matinee in non-conference action.
