STEVENS POINT, Wis. – All five starters for the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (2-1) were in double figures in an 80-54 win over Edgewood (0-2) on Saturday.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) posted his second-straight double-double at home with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West),
Jake Buchanan (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) added 13, 12 and 10, respectively.
Butler and Krohn hit baskets as UWSP jumped ahead 4-0 out of the gate. Butler completed an and-one with Miron scoring five straight as an 11-0 run put the Pointers in control, 24-8. Krohn buried a three late and the Pointers were up 35-23 at the break.
Buchanan hit from beyond the arc early in the second half and four-straight points by Butler had UWSP in the lead, 48-34.
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) nailed a triple and Butler dropped in two threes in a 8-0 personal run to up the advantage to 67-45.
Jacksen Smith (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) scored his first career points with a late bucket.
The Pointers head out on a four-game road trip beginning on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at Wisconsin Lutheran. Tip-off is slated for 7:15 p.m.
