DE PERE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (3-4-0) got four points from
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) in a 5-2 win at No. 15 St. Norbert (6-2-0) in non-conference play on Tuesday.
The host Green Knights took a lead just 1:20 into the game. Exactly seven minutes later, Leising pulled the Pointers even.
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) and
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) picked up assists on the play.
The game remained tied at 1-1 until Aadalen scored an unassisted goal at 13:22 in the second period. The Green Knights answered at the 17:46 mark of the second on the power play to send the game to the third, tied 2-2.
Lauren Wincentsen (Wausau, Wis./West) tallied her first of the season on the power-play at 12:00 of the third to put UWSP ahead with the eventual game-winner. Leising had the assist on the play.
Forty-two seconds later, Aadalen pushed the lead to 4-2 with Horman and Leising adding helpers. With just 17 seconds left, Leising scored an unassisted empty-net goal to close out the scoring.
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) recorded her first collegiate win with 16 saves in net. SNC goaltender Brynn Waisman had 24 saves.
The Pointers return home to face UW-Superior on Saturday (Nov. 18) in a 2:00 p.m. conference game.
