EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (3-7-1, 1-1-0) faced an early, insurmountable deficit and fell at UW-Eau Claire (6-2-3, 1-0-1) by a 4-1 final.
Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) scored her fourth goal of the season to reclaim the team lead in the category.
The host Blugolds struck early and often to put UWSP in a massive hole. Just 55 seconds into the match, UWEC took a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, the Pointers' deficit was 2-0. And in the seventh minute of play, UWSP faced a 3-0 hole.
Klitzke then got UWSP on the board in the 30th minute of play.
Jessica Camarato (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) drew a foul about 30 yards from goal.
Mara Gustafson (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) sent the free kick into the box where Klitzke tapped it home to get UWSP on the board.
The Blugolds tacked on an insurance goal in the 71st minute.

Jessica Nigbur (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) made six saves. UWEC played two goalkeepers combining to make four saves.
Madison Culli (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) led the Pointers with two shots on goal.
The Pointers return home to face UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 7) at 1:00 p.m. The match will be played at the UWSP Turf Facility and it will be "Dawg Supporting Dogs and Other Pets Day". UWSP will provide free admission to any fan making a donation to the Humane Society of Portage County (HSPC). Additionally, the first 25 to make a donation will receive a free pet bandana.
