STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to visiting UW-Whitewater in league action on Tuesday. But the match was much closer than the final score indicated.
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) rallied after dropping the first set at No. 2 singles. She earned a 6-3 win in the second set to force a super-breaker. There, she hung close coming up just short, 10-7.

Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) also had the closest doubles match as they fell at No. 2, 8-6.
UWSP's No. 1 doubles duo of
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) played to an 8-5 final.
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Leithold won five games at No. 4 singles. Scharf and Steier won four games each at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Jantz won three games at No. 1 singles and
Riley Brower (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) won a game in the opening set at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers remain at home to take on UW-Eau Claire in a conference match at 3:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 6).
