OSHKOSH, Wis. – The reigning WIAC Defensive Player of the Week
Mara Gustafson (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) was the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team's offense on Wednesday in a 4-1 defeat at UW-Oshkosh (3-9-3, 2-3-0). It was Gustafson's first career goal for the Pointers (6-8-1, 3-2-0).
The match remained scoreless until the 37th minute when the host Titans took the lead. UWO led 1-0 at the break.
The Titans made it 2-0 in the 51st minute and upped the lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute.
In the 61st minute, the Pointers were awarded a free kick about 40 yards from goal. Gustafson served in the free kick and it skipped through a crowded box and into the far post to get UWSP on the board.
UWO tacked on a goal in the 79th minute to complete the scoring.

Jessica Nigbur (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) made six saves. Gustafson led the Pointers with three shots on goal.
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) added two of UWSP's eight in the match.
The Pointers return home to face UW-Platteville on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 21). Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at the UWSP Turf Facility.
