WINONA, Minn. – Freshman goalkeeper
Jessica Nigbur (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) notched her second shutout in the last 24 hours as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (3-6-1) played to a 0-0 tie at Saint Mary's (5-5-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The shutout was UWSP's third of the week and second for Nigbur in as many games. She made four saves on Sunday, two in each half.
Jessica Camarato (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) and
Mara Gustafson (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) had two shots on goal each to lead the UWSP attack.
Heather Iverson (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) had the other as SMU goalkeepers each played a half and recorded five saves.
The Cardinals had the first shot on goal in the fifth minute. Camarato reciprocated in the 19th minute. SMU tried Nigbur again in the 24th minute to no avail.
Prior to halftime, Gustafson fired shots on net in the 41st and 44th minutes. Camarato and Iverson had shots on frame in the 78th and 79th minutes.
SMU had shots on goal in the 71st and 75th minutes in the second half. The Cardinals had three corner kicks, all in the first half. UWSP's lone corner kick came in the second half.
The Pointers hit the road again on Wednesday (Oct. 4) for a 4:00 p.m. conference match at UW-Eau Claire.
