STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 9 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (9-2-3) pulled off a big 4-0 win over No. 4 Augsburg (7-5-1) at K.B. Willett Arena on Saturday night.
Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn./) got UWSP on the board at the 13:00 mark of the first period, his first of the season.
Cody Moline (North Branch, Minn./) had a helper on what would prove to be the game-winner.
Just 18 seconds later,
Jake Theis (Chanhassen, Minn./) pushed the UWSP lead to 2-0. His goal was unassisted.
Gonrowski scored his second of the night at 14:23 of the second period to push the lead to 3-0.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) notched an assist, his third of the season.
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./) completed the scoring with an empty-net at 17:58 of the third period.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) took care of the rest with 27 saves for his first career shutout. Augsburg goaltender Samuel Vyletelka made 40 saves.
The Pointers travel to Minnesota for a pair of games next week beginning with a 4:00 p.m. game at Concordia College in Moorhead on Friday (Jan. 13).
