Six Pointers with Multi-Point Night as Men's Hockey Win Weekend Opener

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (10-2-3) got multiple points from six different players in a 5-2 win at Concordia College (5-8-1) on Friday.
 
Evan Junker (Elk River, Minn./) got the Pointers on the board at 6:27 of the first period after the Cobbers killed off a five-minute major less than a minute into the game. Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) provided an assist on the goal.
 
At 8:03 of the first, Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich./) doubled the lead with his team-leading eighth of the season. Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) and Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont./) had helpers on the goal.
 
Concordia cut UWSP's lead in half with less than two minutes to go in the first period.
 
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./) scored his first of the night, the eventual game-winner, on the power play at 8:57 of the second period for a 3-1 lead. Witherspoon got his second point of the night with an assist and Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill./) has the other helper.
 
Later in the second, the Cobbers scored to make it a one-goal game heading to the third period.
 
At 13:18 of the third, Poulias netted his second of the night, seventh of the season. Heneghan added his second assist of the game with Cody Moline (North Branch, Minn./) also providing an assist.
 
Moline completed the scoring with an empty-net goal at 17:39 of the third. Humberstone and Junker picked up their second points of the night with assists.
 
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) improved to 5-0-2 with 22 saves in the win. Aaron Dickstein made 24 saves for CCM.
 
The Pointers remain in Minnesota for a 7:00 p.m. game at St. John's on Saturday (Jan. 14) to wrap up the weekend.
