UWSP Track and Field Men Win “Squig” Converse Invite

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team won four events and took the team title at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational on Friday. The Pointers scored 130 points, eight points more than runner-up and host UW-Whitewater.
 
Results
 
UWSP's 4x400-meter relay team of Tyler Santi (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper), Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville) and Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) took first place for the second-straight week with a time of 3:26.45.
 
Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) won the high jump as the only jumper to clear 2.00 meters (6' 6.75").
 
Mike Brown (Butternut, Wis./Butternut) crossed the finish line first in the 5000-meter run. His winning time of 15:56.15 was more than six seconds faster than the rest of the field.
 
In the shot put, Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) won the event with a toss of 14.76 meters (48' 5.25"), a mere 0.2 meters farther than the runner-up.
 
Santi and Gilles notched runner-up finishes in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter runs with times of 51.56 and 1:56.45, respectively.
 
UWSP multis will complete the other half of their events and the UWSP women compete at UW-Whitewater's Invite on Saturday (Jan. 28). Events start at 12:00 p.m.
