EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The No. 9 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (12-4-3, 8-1-0) dropped its first league contest and scored the fewest goals against UW-Eau Claire (12-6-1, 5-3-1) since 2016 in a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.
The Blugolds got on the board first at the 12:16 mark of the first period.
Less than two minutes later,
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis./) scored the equalizer, his second goal of the year.
Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont./) had an assist on the play.
UWEC went ahead again at 9:54 of the second period and neither team would score the remainder of the game.
The Pointers out-shot the Blugolds 27-26 in the game. UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 24 saves. UWEC's Max Gutjahr had 26 saves in the win.
The Pointers travel to UW-Stout for a pair of games Friday (Jan. 27) and Saturday (Jan. 28). Puck drop both nights in Menomonie is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
