Poulias Scores Twice as Pointers Finish Weekend Sweep of Falcons

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (12-3-3, 8-0-0) completed a weekend sweep of visiting UW-River Falls (7-11-1, 1-7-1) with a 5-2 win on Saturday.

Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) broke a scoreless tie at 15:22 of the first period, his fifth of the season. Tyler German (Canton, Mich./) had the assist on the goal.

The Falcons tied the game at 3:13 of the second period.

Just 17 seconds later, the Pointers regained the lead. Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich./) notched his team-leading ninth of the year off assists from Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz./) and Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn./).

Later in the second, the Falcons pulled even. Again, it didn't take long for UWSP to retake the lead. At 18:36, Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./) put UWSP in front, 3-2, with the eventual game-winner. Gonrowski picked up his second assist of the night.

Poulias scored again at 6:46 of the third period, a power-play goal with Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis./) and Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill./) providing assists.

The Pointers got another power-play goal at 12:27 of the third with Noah Finstrom (New Baltimore, Mich./) pushing the lead to 5-2. Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa./) and Brady Smith (Bloomington, Ill./) had helpers on the play.
