STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-7-1, 2-2-0) battled No. 2 UW-River Falls (13-2-0, 4-0-0) to a 4-2 final at K.B. Willett Arena on Friday night.
 
The Falcons got on the board at the 4:00 mark with a power-play tally. Just before the midpoint of the first, UWRF doubled its lead.
 
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) pulled UWSP with a goal as she scored with just 1.7 seconds left in the first. Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) provided the helper on the goal.
 
The Falcons scored the only goal of the second period to take a two-goal lead to the third.
 
UWRF extended the lead to 4-1 with a tally at 8:18 of the third. Just nine seconds later, Josie Bender (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) got UWSP back within two with an unassisted goal, her second of the season.
 
UWSP goaltender Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 37 saves. UWRF goaltender Sami Miller made 12 saves.
 
The Pointers and Falcons wrap up the season series on Saturday (Jan. 14). Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is slated for 2:00 p.m.
