DUBUQUE, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win at Loras to improve to 3-0, but it wasn't easy.
 
In doubles play, the No. 2 pairing of Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) earned an 8-6 win. Maya Kunze and Brooklynn Steier also teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
Things got a bit more interested in singles play. Quinlyn Mack needed three sets to earn the win at No. 1, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Covek also needed three sets to prevail at No 4 singles taking the match, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
 
Kunze and Steier played marathon three-setters. Kunze won at No. 5 singles by a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 score. At No. 6 singles, Steier rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 13-11 win.
 
Tristin Jantz and Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) had an easier time winning at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Jantz won 6-3, 6-2 with Leithold victorious by a 6-2, 6-2 score.
 
The Pointers will host Lawrence on Thursday (Sept. 8) in the home opener. First serve is slated for 3:00 p.m. at University Courts.
