STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team moved to 4-0 on the season after an 8-1 win over visiting Lawrence in the home opener on Thursday.
UWSP's No. 1 doubles pair of Tristin Jantz and Quinlyn Mack won 8-5. Mack then won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Jantz took the No. 2 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) earned the win, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles. Covek also won her No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 7-5.
Maya Kunze had a nailbiter at the end, but held on for a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 5 singles.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles and
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers turn around and play again on Friday (Sept. 9). First serve at St. Norbert is slated for 3:00 p.m.
