STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) notch her second career five-point match as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-4-2) shut out visiting St. Norbert (3-3-0) by a 3-0 final.
Frierdich put UWSP in front in the 16th minute, her second goal of the season.
Gina Wasniewski (Ironton, Minn./Brainerd) was credited with an assist as her initial shot was spilled to Frierdich's foot.
Early in the second half, the Pointers quickly put the match away. Frierdich recorded her brace in the 49th minute on a nice feed from
Madison Culli (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect).
A minute later, it was Frierdich dishing an assist with a fantastic feed to
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop) for the 3-0 lead.
UWSP goalkeeper
Bergen Beversdorf (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) made five saves for her shutout in a Pointers uniform. The Pointers fired 16 shots on goal.
The Pointers continue the homestand with a 4:00 p.m. match versus Carroll on Wednesday (Sept. 21).
