APPLETON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team reached the 20-win milestone for the first time in program history with two victories on Sunday. UWSP (20-4) downed North Park (6-12) by a 6-3 score before dispatching of host-Lawrence (6-7) for the mile stone win, 7-2.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) both went 4-0 on the day. Covek won at No. 2 singles in both matches and paired with
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) for two wins at No. 1 doubles. Henes won both No. 6 singles matches and both No. 3 doubles matches with partner
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West). Both doubles matches against Lawrence were 8-7 finals.
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) and
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) won at No. 2 doubles against Lawrence, 8-3. Woelfel won her No. 4 singles match against LU as well, 7-5, 6-3. Leithold earned a No. 3 singles win against NPU.
Scharf won at No. 5 singles versus North Park.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) picked up a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Lawrence.
The Pointers return to action on April 23 with a pair of home matches. UWSP will face St. Norbert at 9:30 a.m. and Carroll at 3:30 at University Courts.
