STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 11 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (15-5-1, 9-2-0) extended its win streak to four with a 3-0 victory over visiting UW-Stout (7-15-0, 5-8-0).
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C.) broke a scoreless tie with his first of the game at 10:14 of the second period.
Brandon McReynolds (North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Sam Ayd (Grant, Minn.) had assists on the goal.
Later in the second,
Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich.) increased the UWSP advantage to 2-0.
Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont.) and
Harrison Stewart (Rockford, Ill.) had helpers on the play.
Then in the third period, Northey tallied his second of the night just 1:34 into the frame. Ayd and McReynolds again had assists on the Northey goal.
Senior
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont.) made 28 saves to earn the shutout win on Senior Night. Stout goaltender Brennan Kitchen made 33 saves.
The Pointers close out the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday (Feb. 9) against UW-Superior. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
