Women’s Hockey Completes Weekend Shutout of Northland on Senior Day

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – For the second-straight game on the weekend, the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (10-12-0, 4-5-0) blanked visiting Northland (1-19-1, 0-8-0) by a 5-0 final on Senior Day.
 
Senior Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) needed to make just 15 saves for the shutout.  Meanwhile, the Pointers peppered Northland goaltender Teagan Johnson with 59 shots, the third-highest single game total in program history.
 
Fellow senior Haley Sellers (Kenosha, Wis./Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) put the Pointers in front with what would be the game-winner at 13:17 of the first period.  Her third goal of the weekend was assisted by Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) and senior Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury).
 
Less than a minute later, Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) doubled the UWSP lead off an assist from Ali Granovsky (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville).
 
In the second period, senior Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) ripped a shot into the back of the net with Berthiaume tallying her second assist of the game. At 9:19.
 
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) made it 4-0 at 14:31 of the second with senior Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) getting an assist along with Stanius.
 
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) completed the scoring at 3:40 of the third period with a goal off the rebound from a Kayla Stumo (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) shot.
 
The Pointers travel to UW-Superior next weekend to wrap up the regular season. Puck drop on Friday (Feb. 11) is set for 3:00 p.m.
