SUPERIOR, Wis. – Freshman
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) recorded her first career multi-goal game as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (10-13-0, 4-6-0) fell by a 4-2 score at UW-Superior (7-10-1, 2-3-0) on Friday.
The Yellowjackets got on the board first at the 11:15 mark of the first period. UWSP fell into a 2-0 hole as UWS scored at 8:06 of the second period.
Leising pulled one back at 12:48 of the second off assists from
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) and
Anna Cheney (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale). Less than two minute later, Leising tied the game at 2-2 with
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) getting an assist. The goal was Leising's 12th of the year, passing Neuberger for the team lead this season.
The Yellowjackets regained the lead at 17:57 of the second and added another less than a minute later.
Despite pelting UWS goaltender McKenzie Whalen with 15 shots in the third period, the Pointers could not rally. Whalen made 28 saves in the win.

The Pointers and Yellowjackets finish the series on Saturday (Feb. 12) at 2:00 p.m. in Superior.
