STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior
Haley Sellers (Kenosha, Wis./Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) recorded her first career multi-goal game as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (9-12-0, 3-5-0) scored in each period in a 3-0 win over Northland (1-18-1, 0-7-0).
Sellers opened the scoring at 18:50 of the first period, the eventual game-winner.
Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) and
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) assisted on the play.
In the second period,
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) picked up a turnover in the slot and ripped a wrister into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Sellers struck again in the third at the 8:12 mark by burying a rebound off a Berthiaume shot. It was Berthiaume's fourth two-assist game of the season.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) needed just 17 saves to record her third shutout of the season. NC goaltender Teagan Johnson had 50 saves in the game.
The Pointers and LumberJills close out the season series on Saturday (Feb. 5). Puck drop at Ice Hawks Arena is set for 2:30 p.m. as the Pointers celebrate Senior Day.
