STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis.) scored four goals as the No. 11 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (14-5-1, 8-2-0) rallied for a 5-2 win over UW-Stout (7-14-0, 5-7-0).
The Blue Devils roared out to a 2-0 lead after one with goals at 12:50 and 18:40.
Just 1:41 into the second period, Fader started the comeback with his first of the night.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill.) picked up assists.
Just about three minutes later, Fader pulled UWSP even with a power-play goal.
Brady Smith (Bloomington, Ill.) and
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) got assists on the play.
At 5:55 of the second,
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.) put UWSP ahead off a feed from
Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn.).
Still in the second period, Fader completed the hat trick at the 13:37 mark on helpers from Northey and Poulias.
Fader tipped in his fourth of the night at 16:09 of the third period on a shot by
Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont.).
Sam Ayd (Grant, Minn.) also assisted on the play.
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind.) settled in after the first period and made 22 saves for the win. Stout goaltender Zack Cloutier had 44 saves.
The Pointers and Blue Devils close out the weekend series at K.B. Willett Arena on Saturday (Feb. 5) at 7:00 p.m. It will be Senior Night and Military Appreciation Night for UWSP.
