Schultz Becomes Pointers’ All-Time Saves Leader

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – UW-Stevens Point women's hockey goaltender Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) became the program's all-time leader in saves as the Pointers (6-4-1) fell at Augsburg (6-4-1) by a 5-1 final on Friday.

Schultz entered Friday's game just eight saves shy of the school record and made 15 in the first period to take the top spot. She made 41 saves in the game and sits at 2,248 career saves.

The host Auggies got on the board in the final second of the opening period to spoil Schultz's stellar first 20.

Augsburg added two goals in the second and another in the third to put UWSP in a 4-0 hole.

Freshman Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) got UWSP on the board at the 17:44 mark of the third period. Her third of the season was assisted by Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson), her sixth helper in the last five games.

The Auggies added a late empty-net goal to conclude the scoring.

The Pointers remain in Minnesota for a 2:00 p.m. matchup at St. Catherine on Saturday (Dec. 10).
