SUPERIOR, Wis. – Sophomore
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored the first and last goals as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-2-1, 1-1-0) earned a 4-1 win at UW-Superior (4-3-0, 1-2-0).
Leising put the Pointers in front at 9:03 of the first period.
Josie Bender (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and
Kayla Stumo (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) provided helpers on the goal.
The Yellowjackets pulled even 38 seconds into the second period.
UWSP regained the lead at 8:11 of the second period as
Grace Torma (Centerville, Minn./Centennial) netted her second of the year and the eventual game-winner.
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) got her first assist of the night.
Less than a minute later,
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) pushed the lead to 3-1.
Laina Berthiaume (South Haven, Minn./Hutchinson) notched her first assist of the night on the play.
Leising scored again at 9:43 of the third on assists from Andrle and Berthiaume to complete the scoring.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 29 saves to earn the win. UW-Superior goaltender Rose Beeman had 25 saves.
The Pointers head to St. Norbert on Tuesday (Nov. 22) for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
