ASHLAND, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (4-1-3, 2-0-0) earned a 5-2 win at Northland (0-7-1, 0-2-0) to finish a weekend sweep of league play and hand head coach
Tyler Krueger his 100th career win.
Tyler German (Canton, Mich./) scored his first goal of the season to put UWSP in front at the 10:53 mark of the first period.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C./) and
Nicholas Aromatario (Woodbridge, Ont./) got assists on the play.
David Hill (Glen Mills, Pa./) pushed the UWSP lead to 2-0 at 18:13 of the first. His unassisted goal was his third of the year and second in as many nights.
Northland scored the only goal of the second period as UWSP held a one-goal lead heading to the third.
Noah Finstrom (New Baltimore, Mich./) scored at 3:18 of the third period, his third goal in the last four games.
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis./) assisted on the goal.
The Lumberjacks got within a goal at 13:07 of the third. Fader and German added empty-net goals late for the Pointers.
Matthias Smith (Courtenay, B.C./) earned the win in net and had 15 saves. NC goaltenders Viktor Wennberg and Chris Curr combined for 28 saves.
The Pointers return to action on Dec. 2 with a 7:00 p.m. game at UW-River Falls.
