STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (3-2-1) got goals from five different scorers in a 5-0 win over Lawrence (0-7-0) in non-conference play Wednesday.
Senior goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 23 saves to record her seventh career shutout.
It took just 2:49 into the first period for
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) to put UWSP ahead. Her unassisted goal would be the eventual game-winner.
Ahern pick up her second point of the night on an assist as
Ali Granovsky (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) doubled UWSP's lead 2:59 into the second.
Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) also had an assist on the play.
The lead stood at 2-0 until 11:03 of the third.
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) scored on an assist from
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove).
Stanius had her second point of the night minutes later with an assist on
Kayla Stumo's (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) first career goal at 17:37 for a 4-0 lead.
In the final minute of play,
Ashtyn Wiltscheck (Sleepy Eye, Minn./New Ulm) scored her first of the year with
Shelby Tryba (Plover, Wis./) picking up her first point at UWSP with an assist.
The Pointers head out on the road for a conference matchup at UW-Superior on Saturday (Nov. 19). Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
