STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season, 55-50, to visiting St. Norbert (3-0) on Wednesday.

Kelly McIntyre (Waukesha, Wis./North) led the Pointers in scoring with 12 points. She also had eight rebounds. Alexa Thomson (De Pere, Wis./West) had a team-high 11 rebounds, her third-straight double-digit boards game.

Gabby Gawlitta (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) had nine points to go with seven rebounds and two steals. Jamie Pfeifer (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line and added seven points.

Pfeifer had UWSP lone points in the opening five minutes as UWSP trailed 12-2 midway through the first. Gawlitta added four straight, Abbie Campion (Janesville, Wis./Milton) completed an and-one with McIntyre and Josie Nies (Platteville, Wis./Platteville) adding buckets as UWSP rallied to lead 13-12 after one.

Courtney Krueger (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) hit a pair of free throws to begin the second and extend the run to 13-0. Pfeifer was fouled shooting a three and buried all three from the charity stripe for an 18-14 lead. Katelyn Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) added two points, McIntyre three and Campion nailed a corner three as UWSP held a 26-22 lead at the half.

Thomson scored four early points in the third and McIntyre four late in the quarter as UWSP clung to a 36-35 edge heading to the fourth.

Gawlitta drained a triple to start the fourth and UWSP pushed the lead to six twice on free throws by Pfeifer and again on a Thomson layup. Two free throws by Nies broke a 45-all tie. McIntyre completed an and-one with 1:18 to go, but the Green Knights scored the final eight points for the win.
