CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team came up just short in a 5-4 road defeat at Coe on Saturday.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) got UWSP's lone win in doubles action winning 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles play, the Pointers won at No. 1, 2 and 3.
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1. At No. 2,
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) took the No. 3 win by a 6-2, 6-3 final.
Kunze dropped a 7-5, 8-6 decision at No. 4 singles. Scharf battled back to force a super-breaker coming up just short, 1-6, 8-6, 7-10.
The Pointers return o league play with a road matchup at UW-La Crosse on Tuesday (Oct. 11). First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
