LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis fought hard in a 6-3 loss at UW-La Crosse in league play on Tuesday.
UWSP's all-time doubles wins leader
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) went 2-0 on the day. She won her No. 4 singles match, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles play, she paired with
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) for an 8-5 win.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) picked up UWSP's other win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) came up just short at No. 3 singles, falling by a 7-5, 6-4 final.
The Pointers duo of
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) and
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) dropped the No. 3 doubles match, 8-5.
UWSP closes out the regular season and conference slate with a home match against UW-River Falls on Sunday (Oct. 16). First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
