STEVENS POINT, Wis. – On a chilly day at University Courts, the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team shut out visiting UW-Oshkosh, 9-0, to improve to 7-2 on the season.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) escaped the first set with a 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. She finished off the win with a 6-3 victory in the second set. In doubles play, she paired with
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) for an 8-1 win at No. 2.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) rallied from a 3-0 second-set deficit to win 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. With partner
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie), the duo picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Mack rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3. Leithold earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) won her No. 5 singles match, 6-2, 6-0.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 ingles.
The Pointers jump back into action on Saturday (Oct. 8) with a 11:00 a.m. match at Coe.
