RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 16 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (15-2, 2-2) defeated UW-River Falls (14-7, 0-4) in straight sets in league play on Wednesday.
Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) was the lone player on either team to record a double-double. She had 27 assists and 10 digs.
Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and
Melanie Meyer (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) were in double figures in kills. Kopp led all players with 14 and Meyer added 12.
Emma Peterson (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) and
Kelsie Belfiori (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) were both in double digits in digs with 14 and 10, respectively.
Kopp, Meyer and
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) combined for all 14 of UWSP's kills in a 25-16 first set win.
Megan Schroder (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) served up consecutive aces with Kopp and Meyer each recording two kills as UWSP took the second set, 25-14.
Kopp had seven kills in the third set and Schroder served another ace. Meyer added five kills as UWSP finished the sweep with a 25-18 win.
The Pointers held the Falcons to just a .025 hitting percentage, the fourth lowest against UWSP this season.
UWSP heads to Waukesha on Saturday (Oct. 8) for a pair of matches at the Carroll Tri. The Pointers face North Park at 4:00 and host Carroll at 6:00 p.m.
