Women’s Hockey Powers Past St. Olaf for First Win

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (1-1-0) scored twice on the power play and picked up a 4-1 win over St. Olaf (1-1-0) on Saturday.
 
Freshman Natalie Ahern scored her first of the game and first of her career as UWSP got a 5-on-3 power play in the first period. Her goal at 11:00 was assisted by fellow freshman Grace Torma, her first collegiate point.
 
Just 29 second later, Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) netted her second goal of the year to extend the lead to 2-0. Her power-play tally was assisted on by Maddie Andrle, her second helper of the season.
 
Ahern scored her second of the game just 37 seconds into the second period.  Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) picked up an assist, her first point of the game.
 
Aadalen found the back of the net at 11:31 of the second to put UWSP in front, 4-0. McKenna Piekarski notched her first career assist on the play.
 
UWSP goaltender Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) came 42.3 seconds short of her first shutout of the season. The Oles got one past her in the final minute. Schultz racked up 48 saves in the win.
 
The Pointers hit the road to face Marian on Tuesday (Nov. 1) with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff in Fond du Lac.
