STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 13 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (14-4) had few answers for the block party by visiting No. 16 Augsburg (14-2) as UWSP fell in four sets.
The Auggies had 11 total blocks tying for the most by a UWSP opponent this season and they held the Pointers to just a .119 hitting percentage.
Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) did record yet another double-double. She was the only UWSP player in double figures with 12 kills. She added 11 digs, one shy of
Emma Peterson's (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) team-best 12.
Olivia Paukner (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) had consecutive kills to open the match for a 2-0 lead. The Auggies reeled off three straight and UWSP was only able to pull even four times in the set.
Melanie Meyer (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) and Kopp combined for five kills in the set.
Kelsie Belfiori (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) served up two late aces as UWSP came up short, 25-19.
Paukner again recorded a kill on the opening point of the second set.
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) had four kills, but a 6-0 run by Augsburg pushed UWSP into a 2-0 hole in a 25-15 final.
Kopp served up an ace and Paukner again had two early kills as UWSP led 5-1. Kopp had two kills and a block and Michalske served two aces as UWSP used a 5-0 run to secure the third set, 25-20.
An early kill by Kopp was all UWSP had to show in a 7-1 deficit to begin the fourth. UWSP got two kills by
Mady Hanse (Tomahawk, Wis./Tomahawk), one by
Grace Regnier (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) and three by
Megan Schroder (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) as Augsburg completed the win with a 25-11 set four victory.
