ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (1-1) split a pair of matches on day one of the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational.  After dropping the opener to Bethel, 3-0, the Pointers responded with a 3-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran.

Guresi Mena (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) led UWSP with 16 kills in game two.  Bekah Day (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) racked up 67 assists on the day, recording a game-high in each match.

Katie Albrecht (West Bend, Wis./East), Emma Peterson (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) and Kopp all had double-figure digs in both matches for the Pointers.

UWSP 0, Bethel 3 (23-25, 17-25, 22-25)

Lau recorded kills on four-straight UWSP points mid-set as the Pointers tried to rally from behind.  Bethel pulled ahead and held the lead the remainder of the set.

Mena and Lau recorded kills as the seesaw third set tied at 11, 12 and 13.  Mena again recorded a kill to tie the set at 19-19, but the Royals finished the set strong to secure the sweep.

UWSP 3, WLC 0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-15)
