DUBUQUE, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (11-0) won both matches in a trip to Iowa on Saturday. The Pointers dispatched of a shorthanded Dubuque squad, 9-0, before taking an 8-1 win over Loras.
UWSP's doubles teams won all six matches on the day. UWSP's No. 1 duo of
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) took wins by 8-1 and 8-5 scores on the day.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) got 8-0 and 8-2 victories.
Covek earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Loras. Leithold, Koepp and Hess won at 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) won her No. 6 singles match versus the Duhawks, 6-2, 6-1.
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) played at No. 1 singles versus Dubuque, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) got a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles versus UD.
Chloe Moline (North Branch, Minn./North Branch) picked up the win at No. 3 singles by a 7-5, 6-1 score.
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) came away with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles against the Spartans.
The Pointers return home to face Lakeland on Wednesday (Sept. 22) beginning at 4:00 p.m.
