STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-3-0) notched its second-straight home victory with a 3-0 shutout win over visiting Coe College (1-3-1). The clean sheet was UWSP's first of the year.
The Pointes dominated the offensive play early registering eight of the first nine shot attempts of the match. The pressure paid dividends in the 28th minute.
Jacqueline Aleman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) put UWSP ahead on an assist from
Chiaki Vogt (Appleton, Wis./East).
In the 60th minute, the Pointers doubled the lead.
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop) whipped in a corner kick and it was put in the back of the net by
Hannah Kroupa (New Berlin, Wis./West), her first goal as a Pointer.
Dunn nabbed a second assist on another corner kick in the 86th minute. This time she found
Olivia Piloni (Rochelle, Ill./Rochelle Township) for the third goal of the match.
UWSP starting goalkeeper
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) needed to make just two stops for the first shutout of the season. Coe goalkeeper Alex Montalbano had 11 saves.
The Pointers are back home on Sunday (Sept. 12) with a 2:00 p.m. match against Luther.
