UWSP Women’s Golf Holds in Fifth, Downie Tied for Fifth after Second Round

REEDSBURG, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team held strong in fifth, just four strokes back of third, through two rounds of the WIAC Championship (presented by Culver's). UWSP's Bree Downie (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) is tied for fifth after a second round score of 82.

Location: Reedsburg CC – Reedsburg, Wis.
UWSP: 5th of 8 teams
Top UWSP Individual:  Bree Downie (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) remains in the top-five after a second round 82.  She is one shot back of third and five off the second-place golfer.
Notables: Brooke Tuszka (Plover, Wis./SPASH) cut one stroke off her first round score and sits in 20th after an 87 in round two.  Lauren Moran (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) shot an 88 on day two, a 16 stroke improvement.
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Team:  UW-Whitewater widen its lead over UW-La Crosse to 33 strokes, 615 to 648.
Top Individual: UWW's Kristin Bowe is nine strokes up on the competition after a 73 in round two.
 
Up next: The Pointers will hit the course for the final round of the WIAC Championship at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (May 2).
