EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (3-1, 0-1) showed it mettle in the league opener at UW-Eau Claire (5-2, 1-0) on Saturday.  Despite an 8-1 loss, the Pointers battled to four tiebreak situations.
 
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) and Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) teamed up at No. 2 doubles.  The sisters won by an 8-7 score taking the match to a 12-10 tiebreak to earn the victory.
 
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) also played in two tiebreaks at No. 3 singles.  She fell, 6-3, 7-6, but forced two tiebreaks.  She won the first before coming just short in the second.
 
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) also battle to a tiebreak situation.  She dropped her No. 4 singles match 7-5, 7-6 with a tiebreak in the second set.
 
Hess also teamed with Leah Hollander (Portage, Wis./Portage) at No. 3 doubles in an 8-5 defeat.
 
The Pointers return home to face UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (April 7).  First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. at University Courts.
