DECATUR, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team placed fourth in the six team field as the Pointers opened the season at the Firebird Spring Invitational.

Location: Red Tail Run GC, Decatur, Ill.
UWSP: 4th of 6 teams
Top UWSP Individual: Bree Downie (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) finished fifth out of 34 participants by shooting an 88, five strokes back.
Notables: Brooke Tuszka (Plover, Wis./SPASH) carded a 96 to tie for 13th place.  The Pointers team score was 391.
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Team:  UW-Eau Claire took first with a team score of 360.  UW-Stout was nine strokes back at 369.
Top Individual: UWEC's Lexi Meade and UW-Stout's Abbey Filipiak tied for first with a round of 83.
 
Up next: The Pointers travel to Fond du Lac on April 10 for the Marian Spring Invitational.
