MILWAUKEE, Wis. – In it's final tune-up before this weekend's WIAC Championship, the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (7-3) earned an 8-1 win at Wisconsin Lutheran (5-11). The 7-3 regular season is the best by winning percentage in the last 23 seasons.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) won her No. 3 singles match by a 6-1, 6-1 score. She teamed with sister
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) for an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) took care of business at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win. At No. 3 doubles, she teamed with
Kaylee Woelfel (Plymouth,Wis/Plymouth) for an 8-4 triumph.
Leah Hollander (Portage, Wis./Portage) won a super tiebreak, 10-5, after rallying from a 6-1 defeat in the first set to take set two, 6-4.
Anna Dobbe (La Crosse, Wis./Onalaska Luther) eased toa 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Along with
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington), the duo won at No. 1 singles, 8-2. Covek fell in a super tiebreak as UWSP narrowly missed a clean sweep.
The Pointers now head to Whitewater on Saturday (April 24) for the first round of the WIAC Championship. UWSP will be the four-seed and face UW-River Falls at noon.
