WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team won an 8-1 decision over UW-River Falls in the first round before bowing out to host UW-Whitewater by a 5-0 score in the semifinals of the WIAC Championship (presented by Culver's).
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) shut out her opponent at No. 2 singles against UWRF, 6-0, 6-0. She teamed with
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) as the No. 1 doubles duo beat the Falcons, 8-3.
Anna Dobbe (La Crosse, Wis./Onalaska Luther) won her No. 6 singles match against UWRF by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
Leah Hollander (Portage, Wis./Portage) also won against UWRF, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles versus the Falcons. She also won her No. 3 doubles match with
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland), 8-3.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles versus UWRF. At No. 2 doubles, she teamed with sister
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) for an 8-2 win.
UWSP's semifinal with UWW was called at 5-0 after the result was determined. The Pointers fell in all three doubles matches and at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. UWSP's No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches ended unfinished.
