WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team (5-2, 2-2) put up a battle, but fell at UW-Whitewater (9-5, 5-0) by a 9-0 final.
Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) forced a tiebreak in the first set at No. 3 singles. She came up just short, falling 7-6 (3), 6-3. At No. 2 doubles, she teamed with sister
Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) for an 8-2 loss.
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) fought at No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat. Along with doubles partner,
Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland), they finish No. 3 doubles on the short end, 8-4.
Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won four games in a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 2 singles.
Barbara Covek (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) rallied from a 6-0 defeat in set one to challenge to a 6-3 defeat in set two at No. 1 singles. Covek and Koepp dropped an 8-2 final at No. 1 doubles.
None of the Pointers were shut out as
Leah Hollander (Portage, Wis./Portage) won three games at No. 5 singles and
Anna Dobbe (La Crosse, Wis./Onalaska Luther) took two games at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse on Friday (April 16) for the final road conference match of the season. First serve against the Eagles is set for 3:00 p.m.
