RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Seniors
Bailee Collins (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Taylor Greenheck (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) notched double-doubles as the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (3-4, 3-4) earned an 84-76 road win at UW-River Falls (1-6, 1-6).
Greenheck tied career-highs with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Collins added 21 points and 12 boards for her third double-double of the year. Junior
Jessica Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) was also in double figures with a career-high 13 points.
Slowik got UWSP on the board to stall an early 5-0 run by the Falcons.
Katelyn Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) scored five points late in the first as the Pointers started to erase a 10-point deficit.
Josie Nies (Platteville, Wis./Platteville) buried a three as UWSP got within two at 20-18.
Jessica Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho), Greenheck and
Sierra Raine (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) combined for 10-2 run for the Pointers and a three-point lead. After an 11-2 run by UWRF, Greenheck nailed a three late as the Pointers trailed by just one, 36-35, at the half.
Greenheck drilled another triple to start the third quarter as UWSP gained the lead for good.
Jessica Slowik (Elcho, Wis./Elcho) hit from behind the arc late in the third and UWSP led, 56-50, heading to the fourth.
Collins drained 5-of-6 field goals in the fourth quarter as UWSP pushed the lead to double digits. After the Falcons got the lead down to four, UWSP made all eight free throws in the final 35 seconds to secure the win.
The Pointers host the Falcons on Friday (Feb. 26) in the regular season finale. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
