OSHKOSH, Wis. – Home standing UW-Oshkosh (4-1, 4-1) led from wire-to-wire and handed the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (1-5, 1-5) its fifth-straight loss in an 86-66 final.
Senior
Garrett Nelson (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) led all scorers with 22 points.
Philip Flory (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Oshkosh North) added 15 points and led UWSP with seven boards.
Flory got UWSP on the board.
Anthony Espensen (Belvidere, Ill./North),
Peter Timmerman (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic) and Nelson followed as the Pointers were able to make their first four shots and stay close early.
UWSP shot just .231 from the field the rest of the half and the Titans posted a 24-6 to pull ahead by 17 at halftime.
Nelson nailed a three within second of the start of the second half. Timmerman drilled a three as the Pointers got within 13 at 53-40. UWO promptly followed with a 12-point burst before
Brady Wagner (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills) put home a triple and one on the four-point play.
Flory drained a three with just over six minutes left, but the Pointers were unable to get closer than 19 the remainder of the game.
The Pointers will host UW-River Falls on Wednesday (Feb. 24) in the final home game of the season. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
