STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Junior
Mary Kremer (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead Warhawks) scored a power-play goal late, but the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (0-2-1, 0-2-1) fell to visiting UW-River Falls (3-0-0, 3-0-0) by a 4-1 final.
The Falcons took the lead five minutes into the first period. UWSP goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made 15 saves to keep the deficit one after one.
UWRF tacked on two goals in the second period, including a power-play goal with 88 seconds left in the stanza. The Falcons pushed the lead to 4-0 five minutes into the third.
UWSP got its second power play of the game eight minutes into the third period. Kremer put the puck in the net for her 12th career goal.
Anna Cheney (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) and
Cassie Newcomer (McFarland, Wis./Madison Capitols) picked up helpers on the play.
Schultz made 47 saves in the game for the Pointers, the third-most in her career. UWRF goaltender Jordan O'Connor made 21 saves.
The teams close out the series on Friday (Feb. 12) in River Falls. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
