STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 15 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (8-3-1, 3-1-0) scored five unanswered goals in the second and third periods in a 5-1 home win over Northland (2-7-1, 0-5-0).
The Pointers fell behind just 2:16 into the game as the Lumberjacks held onto the 1-0 lead for the remainder of the first period.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) got the Pointers on the board and tied the score at 1-1 at the 2:59 mark of the second.
Brett Humberstone (Kingston, Ont.) picked up an assist on the goal.
Isaac Moberg (St. Paul, Minn.) put the Pointers in front with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 11:15 of the second, the eventual game-winner. The tally was his first in a UWSP sweater.
The Pointers got a two-goal advantage when
Cody Moline (North Branch, Minn.) scored at 2:19 of the third period.
Carter Roo (Champlin, Minn.) and
Sam Ayd (Grant, Minn.) were given assists.
Conor Witherspoon (Metamora, Mich.) found the back of the net twice with tallies at 7:35 and 14:05 of the third.
Jordan Fader (Rice Lake, Wis.) and
David Hill (Glen Mills, Pa.) added helpers on Witherspoon's first goal.
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont.) made 24 saves in net for the Pointers. NC goaltender Chris Curr had 37 saves.
The Pointers remain at home to face UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Dec. 10). Puck drop at K. B. Willett Arena is slated for 7:00 p.m.
