STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team picked up a pair of non-conference dual wins at home on Friday beating Luther, 22-16, and Bryant & Stratton College, 51-3.
 
Matt Berlin (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) earned a pair of victories by fall at 133. His win against Luther came in the third period while he pinned his opponent against BSC in the second period.
 
Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North) won twice at 157 with a major decision, 11-1, against Luther and a tech fall, 16-0, versus BSC.
 
Jerry Lipke (Milton, Wis./Milton) was dominant at 184 winning with a 7-0 decision against the Norse before a win by fall in just 43 seconds against BSC.
 
Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) and Ben Kasten (Reedsville, Wis./Brillion) were also 2-0 on the night.  Peckham earned a 5-2 decision at 165 versus Luther and Kasten won 7-1 at 174. Both won by forfeit versus BSC.
 
Derek Marten (Stratford, Wis./Stratford) won a 10-3 decision at 149 against Luther.  Blaze Thurber (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) was victorious by 14-4 major decision at 125 versus BSC.
 
The Pointers head to Pennsylvania for the Budd Whitehill Duals on Jan. 7 and 8.  Action is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. ET.
