DULUTH, Minn. – The No. 6 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (2-2-0) suffered its first road defeat of the year, 2-1, at St. Scholastica (3-1-0) on Saturday.
Brandon McReynolds (North Vancouver, B.C.) gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead at 6:41 of the first period.
Wilson Northey (North Vancouver, B.C.) picked up his third point of the weekend with an assist.
Isaac Moberg (St. Paul, Minn.) also added a helper.
The lead lasted until the Saints scored on the power play at 14:34 of the second period. CSS took the lead at 4:30 of the third period.
The Pointers got a five-minute power play with 5:55 left in regulation and peppered CSS goaltender Jack Bostedt with shots the remainder of the game to no avail. Bostedt made 18 of his 47 saves over the final 9:14 of regulation, including 10 during UWSP's man-advantage.
Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind.) needed to make just 15 saves in the game for UWSP.
The Pointers return home on Friday (Nov. 12) with a 7:00 p.m. tilt against Saint John's.
